Several reports have claimed that Samsung will seed the Android 6.0 Marshmallow to dozens of its devices, including Galaxy Note 4, Note 5, Galaxy J5, Galaxy J7 and Galaxy A7, but it has released the firmware to only a couple of devices, that too long after many devices from its rival companies received it. The South Korean electronics giant  announced  last week (Feb. 15) that it had started rolling out Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA (over-the-air) update to the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge. It went on to say that the firmware will be seeded to other Galaxy devices soon, but it didn't reveal the update schedule. According to a report by  SamMobile , Samsung has started rolling out the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update to the Galaxy Note 5 (SM-N920C) in Cambodia with build number N920CXXU2BPB6, but it is not confirmed. Microsoft is killing support for Internet Explorer 8, 9, and 10 and Windows 8 today.  The software will no longer receive software or security updates from Microsoft, leaving users out in the cold if it ever became compromised.  According to Netmarketshare , the three versions of Internet Explorer have around 20% share of the total browser market, with around 9% for IE 8, 6.7% for IE 9 and 4.2% for IE 10. IE 11 has a 25% share while Edge, which launched alongside Windows 10, has a 2.75% share.  If you haven't upgraded your devices to Windows 10, do it now Windows 8, which launched in 2012, will no longer get security updates or patches. Google plans to end support for Picasa and transition users to  Google Photos , the company  announced  today. Picasa, an image-organizing application Google acquired  12 years ago, has seen few updates in recent months as Google focused development efforts on its shiny, new Photos app. Support for the Picasa desktop album will end on March 15, though it will continue to work for users who already have it installed. Uploaded Picasa photos will be transitioned to Google Photos on May 1. Originally introduced by Lifescape in 2002, Picasa brought iPhoto-like editing ease to casual photographers on Windows. Twitter can be an incredibly confusing service for new and existing users, and Twitter says it’s now planning to address some rules that might make it unwieldy. In the company’s letter to shareholders, Twitter said that changes were coming to rules like the @reply and the .@name syntax. We don’t know what that looks like just yet, but that the company plans to address that seems significant and in-line with what the company has tried to do lately — make the service less confusing and more palatable to more casual and new users. “We have some really weird rules around conversations, around replies and .@name format that no one understands. Vijay's 60th movie will be helmed by none other than Bharathan and he has snatched away Ilayathalapathy's flick from some of the leading Kollywood filmmakers.  As many as eight directors were in the race to bag Vijay's 60th movie. The actor has been cautiously discussing ideas and scripts with various directors. Samuthikirani, Hari, Karthik Subbaraj, Mohan Raja, Prabhu Deva and Sasikumar had approached the actor with their stories.  In the end, it was Bharathan, who walked away with the opportunity to direct Vijay. Cisco  announced today it was buying  Jasper Technologies , developers of an Internet of Things cloud platform for $1.4 billion. With Jasper, Cisco gets a company that understands the burgeoning Internet of Things market. While the IoT term gets bandied about quite a bit, it simply means connected machines talking to one another over the internet. This could be industrial automation equipment on a shop floor, a connected car, a connected wind turbine or even a smart thermostat.
